The amount of information and training aids that are available to the everyday golfer should make it easier to improve the golf score now more than ever.
However, the golf world isn’t seeing major improvements from the amateur golfer and many still struggle with the golf swing.
We believe there are 3 keys or fundamentals in the golf swing:
- The golfer must be able to control the low point (quality contact)
- The golfer must be able to have a predictable start line and curve of the ball
- The golfer must have enough speed/distance to play the golf course
With the amount of information and swing trainers out there, our number one recommendation is to make sure that the swing trainer focuses on one of the areas above.
Do Golf Swing Trainers Work?
Yes, if the golfer is willing to make a commitment to using the swing trainer over a period of time and the specific swing trainer of choice is helping the golfer target an area that will bring about improvement for their game.
Why Don’t Golf Swing Trainers Work
If a golf swing trainer hasn’t worked for you in the past there is a good chance it wasn’t the right swing trainer for your current swing issue, you didn’t commit the right amount of time, or you failed to transition the movement or feel to the golf course.
5 Keys to Helping You Maximize Your Golf Swing Trainer
Many golfers go out and buy a swing trainer because they saw it on television, an ad, or one of their golf buddies claims it is an amazing swing trainer. Here are the 5 keys to maximize your golf swing trainer.
- Make sure you first understand your swing weaknesses
- Follow the recommendation for the protocol
- Commit to the golf swing trainer for a period of time
- Mix in regular golf shots to ensure a transition
- Collect data to track improvement
Key #1: Make sure you first understand your swing weaknesses
What is your major swing fault? Every golfer has one and understanding this swing fault is the first key to understanding what golf swing trainer might be right for your game. Some of the common swing faults that might exist:
- Over the top move
- Excessing sliding of the hips
- Lack of swing speed
- Casting the club
- Swing is too long
- Lack of rotation in the backswing or downswing
Our recommendation is to get a free swing analytics or even pay some money from some of the top online instructors around. Most will identify your 1-2 areas where immediate improvement is needed.
Find what swing trainer might help you the most with your issue and then commit to fixing that issue. Once you have reached a certain point with that improvement, get another analysis and move on to the next issue in your golf swing.

Key #2: Follow the recommendation for the protocol
Most swing trainers will have a recommendation for the frequency of use and how to use it. Golfers, who experience the most success, will often follow the protocols and use the recommendations to get the most of it.
The best example I can think of for this area is the SuperSpeed Golf Training System. There is a protocol recommendation based on the level that you are at based on previous golfers and the science behind the swing training tool.
Key #3: Commit to the golf swing trainer for a period of time
I am sure there are golfers out there with 5-15 golf swing trainers sitting in their garage or in their basement that were under utilized. The golfer expects quick results and might struggle to understand it will take some time.
A swing change can take a while and the longer you have played the longer it will take as the issue you have in your swing might be 20 years worth of training that movement into your swing. Commit to the time and give the swing trainer a chance before you throw it up against your other golf swing trainers in your garage.
What is the best way to improve your golf swing?
Key #4: Mix in regular golf shots to ensure a transition
If you work with your swing trainer for 60 minutes without ever hitting a golf shot, there might be an issue. The best swing trainers either allow you to hit an actual golf shot with the swing trainer or have built regular golf shots into the training protocols.
Ultimately, the golfer must be able to take the movement or feel developed to the golf course. Mixing in 1-3 swings with the trainer and then 1-3 regular golf shots can help you further deepen the feel required to make the swing correction or change.
Key #5: Collect data to track improvement
Our recommendation is to collect data on the area you are trying to improve. For example, if you purchase a system to improve your swing speed, make sure you document your current swing speed with the driver and other clubs. Tracking the numbers and improvement over time can give you great feedback if the training system is working. A second example, if your swing trainer is helping you make better contact, document on the range or the course the number of well struck shots you hit over time to see if there is improvement.
Do Golf Swing Trainers Work: Top 3 Golf Swing Trainer Recommendations

#1: SuperSpeed Golf (5-8% improvement in swing speed)
One great thing about swing trainers that develop speed is that 99.9% of golfers can benefit from additional speed in their golf game. The analytics area clear and speed is one of the quickest ways to improve your score.

I spent many years wondering how I can increase my swing speed. Regardless of your current speed levels, there are always new barriers to break!
SuperSpeed Golf – Check Price Here!
The SuperSpeed Training System is based on three different swing speed sticks all weighing at different weights. There is a green club that is 10% lighter than the average driver, the blue club which is 5% lighter and the red club which is actually 5% heavier!
Following their prescribed protocols the golfer completes the training every other day. The total time to complete most of their protocols is between 10-15 minutes. Most people can find the time to make this happen. The golfer will also need a swing radar to measure their progress.
Why Do I Hit My Driver So Short?
The science behind the SuperSpeed Training System is based on overspeed training. Overspeed training has been around for several decades now and has been used by olympic athletics in the sport of Track and Field.
The science behind this overspeed training is based on the premise that your brain will only allow your body to move as fast as it feels it can stop safely! So, you get to work and swing the clubs as fast as possible, retraining your brain to allow you to swing your driver faster.
For more permanent results, the golfer should continue these training protocols for several months. The initial 5-8% is great and can become more permanent with the right length of training. The golfer can expect to continue to break down barriers every several months at a 1-2% increase.
My own experience has been an increase of 7-10 miles per hour on average from between 98-101 all the way up to 106-109. My goal is to hit the PGA Tour average of 113 mph in the coming months. I will continue to train every other day and watch in amazement as I am hitting drivers longer now than ever before!
Phil Mickelson (a senior golfer now) has been known to increase his swing speed in the past year or so and is close to 120 miles per hour in his swing speed. There are potential results for golfers of all ability levels and age!

My Secret To Golf Improvement
Let’s face it, in order to get really good at golf, we must practice frequently. About four years ago, I made the leap and invested in a golf simulator build for my garage. I went with a SkyTrak Launch Monitor and the TGC software and can now play over 100,000 courses including Augusta, Pebble Beach, Bethpage Black, Whistling Straits. St. Andrews and many other of the top 100 courses in the world.
This golf simulator setup, which is more affordable that you might imagine, has been a game changer. I can now play golf everyday of the year regardless of rain, snow, cold weather or time of day. I can practice or play rounds of golf. I can stand in the 11th fairway at Augusta and with the auto-rewind feature I am able to practice my approach shots from various differences.
