George Gankas Membership Site Review

If you are anything like me, you want to get better at golf.  You are willing to put in the time and money to make it happen!

I even built my own golf simulator space (see links below for more information) in my garage and am on a journey to play my best golf possible.

Since buying and building the simulator space, I have seen a score decrease from 76-78 on average to scores between 70-74 on average.

I still shoot the occasional 78, but I have also shot a round or two in the 60s.  The progress is there!

However, I feel that in order to make it to the next level of scoring, I need the proper coaching.

I have considered different options.  I am a big fan of Mike Malaska, Shawn Clement, Monte Scheinblum, Kyle Morris (Golf Room Everywhere) and have purchased their memberships, classes or other specials.

I keep getting drawn back to George Gankas from the videos posted on his Instagram.  His students seem to have powerful, fast swings with some awesome club face stabilization.

Even though I have shot rounds in the 60s, I have always felt my swing was too handsy and that my best rounds came when I was able to manipulate the club face good enough.

As a result, I am looking for more club head stability, consistency and maybe even more power.  In November of 2020, I made the leap and bought the expensive George Gankas Membership.

I will continue to update this post with monthly updates on the progress and my take on the quality.  My goal is to stick with the learning and don’t bail if I get frustrated or see an implementation dip.

I am going to commit for 12 months and see where I can take this learning to as far as scores and other measurements such as swing speed.

George Gankas Membership Site Review (Complete Overview)

Initial Impressions

The initial impressions is that this membership site gives one the complete view on everything George Gankas promotes in the golf swing that he teaches.

It is almost designed at a level that if you are a beginning golf instructor or want to know more about the George Gankas instructional approach all the information you could ever imagine is provided.

The depth of each category is so well done and the information can almost be overwhelming.  One of my concerns is the timing of the release of information.  The process is that you are supposed to spend the first month essentially taking in all of the information.

I question at this time if they could at least provide a simple drill or two to get going.  I find myself attempting different swing motions that George is presenting.

Each video provides an opportunity to ask a question and someone responds.  Every question in each video has been answered.

I can respect the element of learning and understanding before applying and I am going to remain patient with the approach.

Depth of Knowledge (Scale of 1-5)

I would rate the depth of knowledge at this point at a 5 out ot 5.  I am blown away by the amount of information.  The information is broken down into three different parts of the swing.  The setup, the backswing and the downswing

Clarity in Videos (Scale of 1-5)

I would rate the clarity as 5 out of 5.  George does a great job and explains the movements in a method that is easy to understand.  He remains consistent and keeps explaining and promoting the movements.

It is all about the match ups and George explains many different scenarios and movements made in the swing.

Support for Members (Scale of 1-5)

I would also rate this category as 5 out of 5.  We will see if this remains as I get into the part where I can upload my swings.  I have taken a video of my old swing and will chronicle my development of my swing one week at a time.

I look forward to a before and after after so many months.

My main goal here is to create more rotation resulting in greater clubhead stability and maybe some additional speed.  I feel that my swing has become too much about timing with my hands at impact.

I will continue to update these categories and provide my reviews at the beginning of every month.

In the meantime, back to my golf simulator, watching videos of George Gankas and trying to get better. I love the journey of golf and trying to get better! The challenge is great!

December 6, 2020 Update

Wow, I am blown away by the amount of detail and the number of total videos. George Gankas really goes in depth and the response time by several of the instructors responding to the questions on the site is impressive.

I have notice through recording my swing the following issues:

  • I do not get shallow enough
  • This leads to me stalling and lowering my right shoulder too much.
  • I have to work on getting more shallow by keeping my hands and arms back and feeling the stretch in the downswing.

December 13, 2020 Update

I continue to be amazed at the depth of the videos. The ability to bookmark when something really pops and makes sense is nice. I am just about all of the parts on the full swing and am ready to go back through some of the key videos. I did get a chance to play outoors as we had unseasonably warm weather. Here are some key stats:

  • I shot a 72 and a 71 (par 71 course), but could have been in the 60s if I could have made some of the my 6-15 footers for birdie. I left shots out there.
  • I hit 29 of 36 greens in regulation (14 the first day, 15 the second day)
  • I hit drivers of the following length: 279, 282, 290 (downhill). There wasn’t hardly any wind and the course was average on softness.
  • My irons would draw about 1-2 yards and I really felt like I was rotation through the ball and limiting the amount of slide in my swing.
  • I saved par 4 out of 7 times.
  • Made 3 total birdies (should have made 6-7).
  • Feeling very encouraged and looking forward to receiving feedback when I can upload my golf swing into the membership site.
  • The learning is awesome. George is clear, goes into great depth and I am learning a lot. No more flipping and relying on timing for me!

February 15, 2021 Update

The amount of information found on the George Gankas membership site is astonishing. Also, the quick access to forums and response time is impressive and there is a feel of a community. I am someone that can consume a lot of golf videos, but I feel like I am at the point where I really just need to continue to work on the basics of the Gankas swing.

For me, this includes making a complete turn in the backswing and then making sure I continue to turn and get open in the downswing. I have enjoyed the club head stability through the hitting zone and have found that my driver is now up to around 106 miles per hour on average on my SkyTrak Golf Simulator, which means I am swinging closer to 108-109 at times.

This is amazing to me and I would attribute this to the fact that I am no longer stalling through the shot. My swing consisted of an incomplete turn, moving a bit forward and then relying on my hands to time everything up. Not only did I lose distance, but I lost consistency because I was over relying on the hands.

The stall and throw were my major issues. Now I swing loose and free and the speed is there. My goal is to get to 113 mph, which is the current tour average with the driver!

I don’t have any outdoor scores to post as I haven’t played since December due to the snow. I did play two rounds right before Christmas 2020 and my success with the driver continued. Gone are the days of hitting the hook because of the stall and throw. The rotation has helped eliminate this shot (hopefully for good)!

I look forward to playing several rounds outdoors next month. In the meantime, I will continue to play on my golf simulator setup with my SkyTrak!

November 2022 Update

My swing has change pretty drastically since viewing all of the George Gankas content.

Most Noticeable Difference: My swing no longer consists of a stall and flip move that relied heavily on timing. Instead, my swing is much more rotational and the consistency has improved greatly. I am coming off my best golf season of my life with up to 10 rounds of golf under par and many right around par.

I have increased my average number of birdies from 2 per round to 4 per round.

I hit the ball further and more consistent than ever.

Looking forward to the 2023 season. Until then I will continue to work on my Skytrak Golf Simulator!
